Buzzy gum, a treatise on friendships, and where NOT to go in Italy
Also, two of street style’s biggest players (and close friends) have a good frolic down memory lane…read on. Have a great weekend, everyone!

The countdown to a friend’s wedding in Italy (followed by an additional week of travels), is ON. This will be my first trip to the country in ages, and I already know I won’t get to half the places I’m aching to visit, but here’s one spot—a wellness retreat near Rome—that editor Linda Wells describes as having “airlifted the American work ethic of sweat, dirt, and effort and dropped it in the middle of Palazzo Fiuggi, an ornate European medical spa” in a recent issue of Air Mail. What’s a trip to Italy if you can’t partake in pasta, wine, and all the gelato? Non, grazie.

It’s a thing: Studies have shown that caffeine before a workout can help boost one’s performance. Not that you need that logic (I just like saying, studies have shown…), or even a workout to gnaw on some caffeinated gum. I recently came across the brand Rev, which I’ve since learned is actually one of the later entrants to what’s already a pretty buzzing market: there’s also Run Gum, Zenergy, Maax, and quite a few other Viagra-sounding gums out there.

My friend Anna and I have conversations and sometimes even the briefest of exchanges that often result in one of us saying: “THIS is why we’re friends.” So of course it’s not all all surprising that she would send me this. The Atlantic writer Julie Beck has spent the last three years interviewing pairs of friends for her “Friendship Files” series, which recently culminated with its 100th installment. Here, she breaks down what she describes as the “six forces” that help form friendships today. Anna, merci! See you you this weekend! ;)

Not new, but new to me: this bra brand is bringing back the Itty Bitty Titty Committee. Really!

Speaking of friendships, this was such a fun romp of a read. If you follow street style, then you likely know Phil Oh and Tommy Ton, two of the genre’s most defining figures. And they’re STILL at it! (Though I’m sure Phil is going to throw his back out one of these days, given how comically he contorts his upper body for the sake of a shot.) In this interview with Vogue, the pair reflect on the industry and how tremendously it’s evolved, as well as what’s in store for their own careers.
